Alpha Yaya Bah - Project Manager

Working as a projects manager at Happy Chandara since 2022 has been an enriching and inspiring experience. Together with my teams, we design and implement projects in the fields of logistics, construction, ecology and education.  Although the challenges are enormous, the rewards are priceless. Our multicultural teams are passionate and highly committed to implementing our sustainable projects, which are part of the collective effort to achieve the 2030 Agenda. Indeed, knowing that my work is helping to transform the lives and opportunities of young girls from vulnerable groups is a constant source of motivation, and I feel very happy and fortunate to be contributing to the education and empowerment of these young girls.

Chanpalla KIM – Boarding school 1 director

I arrived in Happy Chandara in 2010. Our boarding school accommodates 163 students from KG to G12.

Boarders live here either for geographical or family reasons. We provide a safe place where they can focus on their studies and enjoy extracurricular activities. They stay the whole week and some on weekends.

Samnang Chhea– Social manager

I started my work in Happy Chandara in 2017.

With the social team, we provide many services and initiate many projects to

assist our students and their families such as food distribution, transportation, health care,

boarding school assessment, awareness raising…. Our families face many challenges and the housing project is one among other projects who find solutions against an unstable environment, unhygienic housing and lack of access to basic needs.

“We strongly believe that these great supports can help our students and families to access a better and safer living condition”

Savrin Thy, Pedagogy Director

I started to work at Happy Chandara in 2017. My ultimate goal, after earning my Doctorate in Education, is to work in a school where I can provide exceptional education to Cambodian youth, equipping them with comprehensive knowledge, essential skills, and a positive, resilient mindset.

As the Pedagogical Director at Happy Chandara, I have the opportunity to articulate my vision and implement innovative teaching methods that nurture young girls and empower them to become future women leaders. Surrounded by open-minded colleagues, I feel genuinely appreciated. Happy Chandara embodies my educational ideals and allows me to make a meaningful impact on Cambodia’s future.

Socheata CHUN – Preparing for the future Coordinator

I joined Happy Chandara as a teacher in 2017. Now I am in charge of several programs that shape students to give them practical skills, mindset and career guidance to lead them to the best jobs.

Our three programs (Open Students Mind, ICT, and Solidarity Projects) prepare our girls for their professional and adult life. For the Open Students Mind program, we cover six main topics: Values, Health, Environment, Society, Women, and Brand Cambodia/Entrepreneurship, using both indoor and outdoor learning methods. To enhance both soft and hard skills, we employ a Project-Based Learning approach to design community project.

In the ICT program, we teach Microsoft Office and information technologies, including Google Suite, email, and coding programs related to science and AI, which will benefit students in their future endeavors. The Solidarity Projects aim to enhance the competencies of both the communities and the students. Currently, we are running two initiatives: the Biblio Book project and the Helping Students at Boarding School project.

Career guidance team follows our students during all these years at Happy Chandara to help them to find universities, training, and job opportunities.

Sopheak Chhea- Director of the Bilingual Program

Since joining Happy Chandara School in 2013, I have had the privilege of contributing to a transformative educational environment. As the Director of the Bilingual Program, I work with a dedicated team to develop curricula that equip our students with strong English proficiency and a global perspective while preserving our Khmer culture. My primary focus is to prepare them to be competitive with their peers from leading international schools in Cambodia while overseeing the daily operations of the English department.

What drew me to Happy Chandara was its profound mission to provide quality education to girls from underprivileged families. Historically, Khmer girls have faced significant barriers to education, and I am proud to be part of an effort to change that narrative. From teaching English in the lower grades to leading a committed team of educators, I am driven by the belief that every student at Happy Chandara School can overcome their circumstances and become a confident, self-sustaining individual and a leader of tomorrow. It is a privilege to contribute to this mission, knowing that what I am doing is to shape the future for young girls who deserve every opportunity to succeed.
